which programs are unnecessary? Hello guys,
First of all i have to tell you sorry for selecting wrong forum. I did not know where i can post this thread.
Please see my programs list screenshot in attached files section.
Now you will see a list of programs that they had installed on windows 7 (64-bit). I want to know which programs are unnecessary? and which one is not compatible with windows 7 x64? and which programs should be in the list?
Please tell me know.
Sorry for my bad english,

Snagit is extra. Unless you just like it better than the Snipping tool that comes with Windows 7.
If you want to eliminate overhead from your PC, you should be looking at a different list. Most of this stuff doesn't take cycles unless you're running them. But stuff in the Startup folder consumes cycles everytime you boot your machine and may wake up to do "work" at other times as well.
Start a program called "MSConfig" and look at the Startup tab. Post a list of these programs here for us to take a look at. They are very easy to turn off.
Cheers!

Quote: I want to know which programs are unnecessary? It rather depends on what you will be using the PC for! If you will never do sophisticated editing of still photos then Adobe photoshop CS4 could go. On the other hand if it came preloaded then keep it, you've paid for it and you may need it in the future. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron 570 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Prcossor, 2800 Mhz, 4 Cores Motherboard Dell Inc. 04GJJT A00 Memory 4 Gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster [Monitor] (22.0") Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Hard Drives WDC WD3200AAKS-75L9A0 [Hard drive] (320.07 GB) Seagate FreeAgentDesktop USB Device [Hard drive] (250.06 GB) Internet Speed 8mb |

I agree with ISVDevelopers, it is not what is installed so much as what is running. Along with msconfig, check your services.msc to see if it needs tweaking: Windows 7 Service Configurations by Black Viper | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

Just from that, i can tell you which ones to turn off..
Java and the 3 Adobe ones, Babylon, from a quick google search, is a language translator, so leave Babylon.
Not sure about PC Tools Firewall, also probably not necessary if your running Kaspersky too. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS W7 RTM Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q8400 @ 2.66GHZ Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EG45M-UD2H Memory 4GB DDR2-800 Graphics Card Gainward GTS 450 GLH 1GB Edition Sound Card Integrated 8 Channel Monitor(s) Displays AOC 23.6 Inch Widescreen LCD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard HP SK-2960 Multimedia Keyboard Mouse Logitech M350 Wireless Gaming Mouse PSU Apevia Java Power 500W Case Cooler Master HAF 922 Black Cooling Stock Intel CPU Fan Hard Drives Seagate 500GB Internal
