    type size in Skype

I have been using Skype ever since it came out. Now with my new HP Compaq and Win 7 - 64 when I open up the Skype window the type size is so small it's terrible.
So hard to read. I know I can open up the magnifier and all that but that gets to be a pain and I really do not enjoy it.
Is there any way to increase the size with out going to the main sizing of the whole machine ? I have the computer set at the mid range and works most of the time with out the magnifier. I use the small full page enlarger in many cases but it doesn't seem available on the Skype page.
And even the spell check is very small. I wish I had my old XP back.
But given time I'll get used to it, so they say.
    Thanks

You can edit the IM text but you cannot edit the system font size. That's according to Skype. If your screen resolution is high then that make then that makes the relative size of a font smaller. I had a slight problem here so I went to screen resolution clicked on "Make text larger or smaller" and chose the Medium setting. The default is small and at my screen res that was very small.

    Try this:
Right click anywhere on a blank part of your desktop. Click on Personalise at the bottom of that window. At bottom left click on Display. Here you can choose the medium setting. Click Apply and go back to your desktop. See if that improves things for you

thanx mitchell65, i have already set it to large, it doesn't change the size of the text in skype. The laptop has a high resolution and when i change it, the screen becomes blurred. Even in softwares lyk adobe photoshop cs4,toolbars are displayed very small

I don't think you can change the size of the toolbars in any program, that would be set in the program system. What choice of resolution have you on this laptop? If you have , say a 15" screen and a resolution of say 1680 x 1050 then everything is going to look small. An icon or toolbar image would look a quarter of the size it would appear on an older screen set at 800 x 600. Try setting at a lower resolution. Other than that I am a bit stumped.

I have the sony vaio with windows 7 as well and I found a way to enlarge everything on my computer, including skype. Go into control panel and Appearance and Perosonalization, then click on display and you'll see an item right underneath it that says "make text and other items larger or smaller." Choose the largest setting. It will warn you that some things may go off the screen if you choose the largest, but it's not the case. For skype, which was still small font, I googled the issue and found a compatibility download. Unfortunately, I didn't save the URL, but if you see a link about compatibility downloads, that's probably it. Everything is normalized on my computer now and I'm very happy.

    HI Olivia
But your solution will only edit the font size for Instant Messages and SMS. I think the OP was looking to edit the system font size of all the Skype page. As I said earlier in this tread I have contacted Skype on this issue and they replied thus: "Unfortunately it is not currently possible to edit the system font size".
