    Windows Live & Messenger

I don't know if I'm the only one but the past few days I am receiving some strange
messages about being signed into MSN & Messenger. In addition, I have received
some messages from MSN to change my password.

    Any ideas

    Thanks

Are you actually using the Messenger at all? Cause if not, I strongly recommend removing it from your system.

Where are you getting these strange messages? Do they simply pop up on your desktop, or you see them in your browser, or you are running the messenger?

Why would you strongly recommend removing it?

    Am I missing something here.

Note that I recommended removing it, if he is not actually using it.

Two reasons - 1. Security paranoia. 2. No need to keep software you don't use.

Let me expand the first one. This is not total paranoia. This is a legacy of Windows messenger in older OS, which was a total security risk, as it allowed people to send you messages and access your PC without you knowing and without you doing anything. They say it's much better now. But if you are not actually using it, why keep it?
