Hi w,
Try running Quicktime (or your browser, if it's embedded media) in Compatibility Mode: Compatibility Mode
You can try various compatibilities but I'd start with Vista.
Cheers,
Walker

When I check on Properties I don't get the screen you showed. There is no option named compatibility. I am running Windows 7 on a new HP desktop and I am still learning the tricks of Windows 7. This is one that I have not conquered yet.

Hi again,
Are you having problems with the Quicktime application itself, or with the Quicktime plugin for your browser?
Cheers,
Walker

Not sure, but could be both. I can click on a file and it will call in Quick Time or I can click on the Quick Time execute file in "Programs" and then Load the file and I get the black control box in both of them.

black quicktime controls continued I am running Windows 7 and have the same black controls for Quicktime player. I click on an mp3 in a website (including my own) and the controls are black. On audio files only a black bar shows. I have tried changing the compatibility settings to Windows XP SP2 and 3, also Vista settings. No help. Anyone have any more ideas? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite OS Windows 7 |

Quicktime controls I found that if you load Quicktime first, then open the file, you get the controls. If you click on the file first, then Windows 7 detects that you need Quicktime to open the file, then it is called by Windows 7 and you get the black control box. I have not found a way to change this.
