Hi.

Both these programs are used and recommended by many here...

- CCleaner

- Microsoft Security Essentials

...myself included.

CCleaner, the rest are junk and are not worth paying for. That being said, they don't do much and buying hardware is always the best idea. Nothing like a quad and 8GB of DDR3 RAM to awaken 7.

Hello A Night King, welcome to Seven Forums!

I like CCleaner myself but some like Glary and I have used it too.

It needs to be said that care must be taken with any registry cleaner, they all have the power to completely disable your PC and it is a good idea to create a system restore point in case there are any unforeseen problems, see the tutorial at the link below.

+1 Bare Foot Kid In my opinion you gave the best advice for everyone to heed, careful what you wish for when cleaning the registry because if it cleans something needed by the os you may end up doing a clean install.

For about ten years I saved backups offered on CCleaner Registry cleanup. Finally I realized it doesn't seem to make mistakes so I don't back up the deletions any more.

It just works.

+1. Although I will always have a scan of what it finds to be safe.
