I noticed sometimes I am offered file hippo, other times I can download straight from them which I prefer.

You can always use my tutorial link to get you the right download directly from them :)

    CCleaner - Delete Junk Files
Hum must be a US thing as I can just click on piriform when the update is offered or I ask for any updates.

I seem to remember too I subscribed to the newsletter too - see pics - if you click on online help at the very bottom left corner of the application it will take you to the page and I am sure I just entered my email address there.

Yep Bill only my desktops automatically pop up a message re the new version while my laptop doesn't and I think it is because I have subscribed to the email newsletter and my updates is down the right hand corner so they must offer it differently there??

Ccleaner latest version - added features?

I just installed a Ccleaner update (v4.14.4707 64 bit Slim) and in the past have always added CCEnhancer.

Note: You need to be careful when using CCEnhancer as it also includes options to clean shellbags (clean folder history and reset size, position and view settings) as well as additional cleaning options for software that's not covered by Ccleaner.

They've added Cyberfox browser cleaning to Ccleaner:

    From the website

    - Improved Firefox and Mozilla based browser Cookie cleaning.
    - Added Cyberfox browser cleaning.

I wonder why they added Cyberfox but not other Firefox variants? Still, it's better than needing to use another cleanup utility alongside Ccleaner!

Hm! Maybe I won't have to use ShellBag AnalyZer from PrivaZer anymore!

ShellBag AnalyZer from PrivaZer is a better option and I use it myself. I was just trying to say that if you use the ShellBag cleanup option in Ccleaner it will literally wipe and reset all Shellbags rather than selectively delete the ones you don't need!

In other words that option is best avoided!

Okay, I hear ya. I don't need all of them reset; I'm pretty selective. Good to know, though.

    Privazer, anyone?

I know that this is a sticky thread for CCleaner (which I have used myself for a long time) but have any of you tried a product called Privazer? It too is free and full featured but the important part is that, directly after running CCleaner, I then ran Privazer and found an additional 1.2GB worth of garbage that CCleaner missed. I generally don't use the registry cleaner/defrag tool out of personal paranoia but I've used the rest of the tools (and like CCleaner, there are many) extensively for the last six months or better and have not had a single issue with it that I can think of.

Yes, some members have used it and some have experienced problems and have resorted to restoring Windows from a system image backup after using it. I believe that if PrivaZer settings are understood and configured correctly then there's no problem. Like Ccleaner it doesn't actually offer cleaning support for absolutely all software.

    See the threads here:

    PrivaZer PC cleaner

and here for where users have experienced problems:

    IE10 uses WebcacheV01.dat vs index.dat files. How to clear/delete? = page 4 and onwards.
