Display issues

Hi Guys

Im having a real problem try to setup up a dual monitor setup in extended mode.

Im assuming when I switch the refresh and resolution go way to high.

I have a gigabyte GTS 250 graphics card.

Is there any software that any one knows about to enable locking of refresh rates so I can reslove this????????????????

Hello djjamieg,

Unfortunately, some video cards have a maximum capability in that area, that only allows a certain refresh rate for a given resolution.

For example, my video card supports 85 hertz in 1024x768, but only 74 hertz in 1152x864.

With dual monitors, sometimes the resolutions and refresh rates can decrease.

I really cant figure this out mate.

I can clone each display in 1024x768 but not extend onto the 2nd monitor.

Last time this happened the refresh rate was 85Hz.

Is there no way I can globally keep my system locked at 60Hz so the extended display will work.

Also do you have any ideas I could try, I've tried all the obvious ones i can think of.

Thanks Jonathan

I'd say try to find an updated driver for your video card.

Try uninstalling the driver in Device Manager, and rebooting.

Then let Windows install the drivers it finds.

I've also done that via a clean install on windows 7 yesterday.

I have tried the common/novice things to do...........
