    Windows Live Messenger Issues...

I was wondering if anyone has encountered the following (I am running x64 build 7068 FYI)

I would install Windows Live Messenger, run it, login, later signout, close the program...

I would then come back to it hours later...It would open fine, but would constantly spit out errors like "Contact list not available" or just would fail to sign in (the first error resulted in it not signing in as well)

It seems the only way I can get it to connect again is to uninstall the program and reinstall it (it seems when the uninstaller stops the windows live communication platform, that it resolves the issue...but i cannot find a way to do this other than uninstalling and reinstalling)

I am not using any firewall software, Windows Firewall is disabled and I direct connect to my cable modem so I know its not a routing issue.

    i also had some problems
reinstalled messenger and it works fine.
do you get a specific error number? you can search it and find the answer
    to your problem.

Indeed, I never had a problem with the WLM at all in any build I had installed - however, my difference from your setup is that I leave Windows Firewall *enabled*.

Is it possible that WLM is not detecting that WF is disabled, and trying to interact with it to gain access when it in fact does not need to, thereby messing it up?

Also, to get WLM to minimize to the tray, I use WLM in Vista Compatibility mode - perhaps if you enable that WLM will recognize the disabled WF and start working correctly?

Mind you, this is just conjecture....
