    Question about Google Desktop

    I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I don't think this is a problem with Windows 7. In fact, I don't think it's a problem at all---just an inconvenience for me. But I'm going to ask anyways because one of the smart people here might know how to help me without me needing to restart to fix it.

Here's what's going on. I installed Google Desktop a couple of months ago. Well, I believe everytime I upload or download something I get the error shown in the picture I attached. Inside the .zip file are pictures just in case you're wondering.

I cannot delete the item until the computer is restarted. Does anyone know of a fix or something?

    Thank you very much. :)

You could go into Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Esc) and in the Processes tab, manually end Google Desktop.

    Better yet, uninstall Google Desktop.

Google Desktop is a giant system hog, you don't need it. If you prefer these types or programs, at least use Windows Desktop Search. But Windows 7 has awesome search features, so you really don't need these things. I think that Google Desktop is indexing everything and that's why you can't delete it. Right click on the system tray icon for Google Desktop. Does it say indexing? If so, wait till it's finished indexing or tell it to stop or pause.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

Fred, I went into the "Uninstall Programs" and was going to uninstall it but it gave me an option to disable the indexing---which is what I did.

    Thanks again.

Actually it's not fixed. I disabled the indexing in Google Desktop but it's still not letting me close certain items after uploading. I uploaded more pictures and now I can't delete them until I restart.

I went into options and went under the option "Index the following items so that you can search for them" and de-selected Archives (ZIP). Maybe that will fix it.

Edit: Also, I ended Google Desktop via Task Manager, deleted the item, and restarted Google Desktop.
