flash not working with W7/64 bit or 32 bit FF

I have a new asus computer with windows 7 64 bit. I cannot watch any youtube vids. I found that I need flash 10 but adobe says it will not work with W7/64. I tried running IE.86 from the start menu and it still will not work. I uninstalled the flash software but get error code - 16263.203.319-72372312.80040154.ffffffff.80040154
I tried to install flash 10 and get the same error code.
I installed firefox, no youtube. I still cannot install flash and get the error code - 16263.203.355-72372312.80040154.ffffffff.80040154 (Basically the same code but slightly different for firefox.)
I called asus and they will not help me at all. The first tech said he did not understand what was wrong and elevated the trouble ticket to the next higher level and said that they would call me back. No call I called them again and got the same line of crap. They never called back. Apparently they have no interest in fixing my problem.

I'm at a loss and need some help. I've searched here and found nothing.

As far as I know flash will not run on 64bit. I am sure that adobe is working on it but in the mean time have you googled for a flash replacement that wll run in 64bit? If all else failed you could always run win 7 32 bit until adobe gets its act together

Ken, I could be wrong, but the way I read the OP is that the ordinary 32 bit flash that should work with the ordinary 32 bit Firefox won't even install.

@RoGrrr just to avoid confusion are you running Firefox 32 bit or 64 bit browser?

Flash works just fine on a Windows 7 64 bit OS, Has for quite some time.

The common misconception is that it only works on a 32 bit OS. Isn't the case, it's just they don't have a Flash version for 64 bit browsers. Only for 32 bit browsers.

The IE8 that's used by default in Windows 7 is the 32 bit one. Unless you've manually changed the associations to have it run the 64 bit IE8 at default. The Firefox you get from mozilla.com is also the 32 bit version of it.

Try the instructions here, and close all your browsers when uninstalling -
How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control

You can also check in Local Disk C: -Windows-SysWOW64-Macromed-Flash. And check to see if everything in that flash folder is gone, after you've uninstalled it. If there's still files in there, delete them so that folders empty. Then try to install Flash again. There are 2 separate Flash downloads on the adobe site for IE8 and Firefox. The activex for IE8, and the plugin one for Firefox. Install them both, if you use both browsers.

Might also try the latest 10.1 Beta 3 Flash, and see if that will install for you.
