    installing software with .msi

My PC has two users ( myself and wife).
Upgraded from vista ( the computer, not the wife )
In her log-in I can install software no problem.
In mine I get an error if it's an msi install.
    Error 2203
Has anyone got any idea where I should look for the problem?

Standard Windows error code for that number is "the password parameter is invalid." Are both accounts in the administrator's group? Is either one passworded? Have you tried right clicking on the file and doing "run as administrator?"

Other than that I'd suggest searching on the error phrase and Windows Installer.

Both accounts are run as admin.
    And neither has a password
    (Naughty I know).
Google searches for that error tend to show only problems with specific software ( especially .net).
    But for me it's general.

I know there was a problem on Vista with the installer that provoked MS to produce a Windows installer cleanup tool. Before running anything I'd make a restore point to get back to where you are now.

According to the page, this installer cleanup utility works on all 32 and 64 bit Windows flavors:

I have used that for reinstalls. But in my log-in I don't even get to install.
