Free DVD Decrypt and MP4 converter
Under Vista 32 bit I used a combination of DVD43, an on the fly decrypter, and Handbrake to convert my collection of purchased DVDs to ipod touch format.
Since upgrading to Win7 64 bit I have been completely stumped. Firstly I thought I could just install the 2 programs above in XP mode and it would all work fine. The problem is that I can't play DVDs within XP mode as it says I don't have a DVD decoder. Obviously I do have a decoder as can play them within Win7. Is it possible to get my decoder working within the XP mode enviroment? Failing that can I get a dvd decoder to install within XP mode?
I have tried about 12 different free 64 bit dycrypters and converters within the win7 enviroment. They all seem to involve 30 minutes copying the DVD to the hard drive unencrypted and then the same time again running a 2nd program to convert to mp4 format. This is just painfully slow compared to the single pass I had with DVD43/Handbrake combo. Can any one recommend a slick method of getting my purchased DVDs onto itouch?
I only did 2 of my 100 DVD before upgrading so feeling a bit silly!!!
Thanks Mike
