Windows installer error 1722 with KIS 2010

I've just received my new Mesh Elite 530M running Windows 7 Home Premium. I already have a 3 machine KIS 2010 license so uninstalled the Bullguard trial software and tried installing KIS but am repeatedly getting an error towards the end of the install which is basically indicating there is an error with Windows Installer -
"Error 1722 There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A Program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.Action InstallDriverKl1X64, location:C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2010\KLIFX64\drvins64.exe, command: install Kl "C:\Program Files (X86)\ Kaspersky Lab\........Kl.cat"kl.cat"
The installation then rolls back and I end up at square 1.

I've tried running the install as Administrator and that does not work.
I've also tried a custom install to another directory - same error.

I suspect it's Bullguard not uninstalled correctly or something that needs to be fixed in the registry but I'm not 100% savvy with this so don't want to mess without some good guidance.Especially as it's a new machine.
p.s. same software loads 100% fine on two other machines running Windows 7.
Any help very gratefully appreciated - as I'm not using the PC without protection !!!

Scroll to the end of this page and download the 'un-install' tool:

    Jacee ,
thanks for your reply. The process shown for uninstalling Bullguard is the one I used, I am wondering if it altered the registry in any way when during that process?

    Well,
still no fix on this one, Kaspersky support tried to help but each suggested fix failed , so currently running a 60 day trial of Bullguard to give me some security on the machine until this arror can be sorted.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Help please........
