Problem installing Photoshop and VS2008

Hey guys! Having some problems installing the 2 programs mentioned.

First off with Photoshop CS4 I get the following:

After that it tires to install the rest of the program but can't. Just errors saying it can't install back to the desktop.

And here is the error I get with Visual Studio 2008:

With both programs I have tried various compatibility modes. Both are also given Administrative properties.

I have tried (as well) to use the trial edition of Photoshop, and have tried the free versions of visual studio.

Both programs were given to me by school, and I have tried a different CD for installation.

Also, I've ran Ad Aware, Spybot, and Avast!, with only Spybot finding a few spyware things that it removed. After removal and restart of the computer, the programs still fail to install.

I am attempting, btw, to install VS2008 onto the E:\ drive (My WD Caviar SATA drive), and did not specify where to install Photoshop.

As my computer specs say, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 edition. Been running it since the beta, and installed it with a clean wipe of the computer.

Hope this helps in solving my problem!!!

I can't help with Photoshop, but Visual Studio, maybe.

You said you gave them Administrative properties, but did you run the installer as an administrator by right clicking? Or does it load an HTML page for the installation? I had a problem installing full VS 2010 Beta Express edition by the normal web method because Firefox was my default browser. I solved that by downloading the individual components that I wanted VC++, C#, and VB and installed them one by one.

Looks like you're not installing the express version. Does the full version setup disk load an HTML page? If it does, and you don't have IE set as your browser, enable it temporarily and try again. It might work. There is something a little weird with that installer.

Here's what I suggest:

Make sure the following things are cleared up:

Quote:
  1. This error is known to occur on computers that do not have enough disk space for the installation. Increase your hard disk space.
  2. The temp directory is full
  3. A certain file on the machine is locked. To fix this:
    • Close all applications running in the background.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Run the installation again.
  4. The Windows Installer Service may not be properly installed on the machine. Update the system with the latest Windows Installer Service.
  5. Make sure you have administrative privileges.
  6. Use Microsoft's Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove traces of previous installations. This utility does not remove files installed by the installation, which may need to be removed manually.
Then completely uninstall all remnants of the previous installations, this including registry files, you need to go through your registry and remove all traces of those adobe programs. For help with this process, use this program:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/c...anupscript.zip

Once you've done that, reboot and try to install again, when you do make sure to right click and hit run as administrator.

If it fails again, continue through the installation and get the error code by clicking more information at the end.

@ mellon head:

Yes I right clicked, run as administrator. I even turned the UAC off.

Also tried "one by one." did not work.

I don't think it loads in an HTML page. but I could be wrong.

@notsogray:

Tried adobe's registry cleaner with reboot. did not work.

Here is the VS2008 error log:

You may need to install those listed services on their own and then attempt to install the CS4 programs.

*That refers to MS Visual C Runtime
Would it be worth a try to download the self installer of MS Visual c runtime 8.0 from Microsoft to fix corruption? This usually fixes that error for Photoshop. ( see you already tried that..hmm)

As to Visual Studio, a bad ISO will cause that corruption or corrupted .NET.
