I use DVD Flick. It's free and works really well.

DVD Flick does the conversion automatically, I assume that is the same with with DVD maker, but I have never used that one.

DVD maker should do the same.

The beauty of DVD Maker is that it is built-in to Windows; no third-party program is needed.

The advantage to third-party programs such as DVD Flick is that they can improve upon where Microsoft could do better.

I use ConvertXtoDVD. It is not freeware, but will convert any format to DVD format and burn the disk for you.
