WinZip software for Win-7
I got a free trial period from WinZip file compression unzipper and now they want me to buy the software but I see that the Cnet website has the same download for free. What gives?

WinZip is a program you are supposed to pay for, but I think the vast majority of people do not as it doesn't ever seen to quit working.
Personally, i use 7zip. it's free, is 64-bit and just works.
You can also use WinRAR which has a 40-day trial period but still lets you use it afterwards. It doesn't even warn you unless you open the window, a context extraction just plain works.

WinZip just released an update today that is Windows 7 friendly. It also has a new GUI that matches the Microsoft Office Word 2007 interface by the fact it hast the same ribbon style tool bar and colors theme.
I havent used winzip in a long time. Mainly use 7zip now. Nearly £26 for an archiving program is silly when there are very decent free ones available.
