no DirectX??

just got a new Acer Aspire laptop 7740G-6364, supposed to have real nice grafics but the display is a bit dull and video is very grainy. I can't find DirectX in the system32.... could it really be totally missing the directX11? If so Can I just download it, I am waiting for Acer to respond to my question but they have not yet. Any ideas?

here is other info about the laptop:
ATI Mobility RadeoHD 5650 and has i5 processor...

Type dxdiag in search and check the results. If no directx re-install the graphics driver

the dxdiag worked out great and did show Directx11... also last night I updated the ATI Catalyst and then changed a few settings and I think all is well now. It looks great!

Thanks for the assistance!
