.cab file extension

    .cab file extension


    I have a .cab file in a program that I would like to view and change but every method I have used has failed so far. Any ideas. The programes I have sed so far are, MS Command > expand, WinRar, 7-Zip, ZipScan and CabExplorer

    7-zip can view cab files.

    7-zip definitely can open a .cab file, unless the .cab file in question is corrupted in some way...

    What kind of cab is it? If its a windows cab, you should be able to open it in Windows explorer itself. If its a non-windows one then the cab file is probably using a proprietary format and you will need to find out what the installer is that they are for and search on the web. Meanwhile, also try Uniextract.

    Thanks Bill, where can I find that info. Obviously if it is in the cab file itself, I wont be able to see it.

    Well, you'll have to hit and try but i do remember theres an extractor called i6comp which works with Install Shield Wizard cab files. This is an example of such an extraction.
