iTunes cannot open; EVERYTHING IS "READ ONLY"

    Hi there,

I have a little problem with iTunes today, it wont open up. When I attempt to open the program I get a message (almost immediately) telling me that the "iTunes" folder cannot be accessed. It implies that it could be located on a locked disk. I looked into the problem, and I found out that suddenly all my music (in the "My Music" folder) had been switched to read only. What I think might of caused this is that yesterday I connected my Xbox 360 to my computer through the network (for the first time). I opened up WMP and allowed all access to my computer, especially for my music. I was able to play my music succesfully on my xbox in the other room. Now I might suspect that I did something in order to change all the music in my folder to read only. I have tried to simply right click > properties > unclick the read only option. But to no avail it says access denied. "You will need to provide administrator permission to change these attributes". This is odd because I am the administrator on my computer. The only user in fact. I have searched for a solution, but all sites with this problem deal with Windows XP.

    Thanks for any further insight.

    EDIT:
I just found out that basically EVERYTHING in all my libraries are read only. The good this is I can change these ones without the access denied problem. I've got a long day ahead of me...

    EDIT2:
I can't even make a new folder in My Pictures, My Music, My Videos! This is becoming a very big problem for me!

This is no longer a SOFTWARE problem, its an OS problem!! arrrrghh

EDIT: Problem solved. Seem link for more info: All my files have changed to READ ONLY, PLZ HELP!

    Windows 7 Upgrade

I was having the same problems. I could not move anything or play i-tunes. I tried a lot of the info on the forums and got no where.

Then I noticed in the status bar at the bottom that the files were offline. I right clicked the file > Sync > Sync selected offline files. I-tunes started with no problems. Files were able to move and delete.

    Hope it works for you!
