WLM Webcam Red X / Service error message fix.
This post covers 3 Issues currently experienced in WLM 2009.
The first 2 are in regards to a Red X issue that occurs as unrelated to the known macafee bug, both of which are caused by a bug in the "Allow others to see that i have a webcam" option being unticked.
I'm aware that in older versions of messenger, this option could be unticked but still display the webcam properly when desired.

This only address's half the issue, your contacts may/maynot still see a Red X.
The only complete fix is to re-enable the "Allow others..." option and live with everyone knowing you have a cam until msft actually fix the issue.
The second one, in regards to the service error messages, is caused by VmWares or VBox's virtual network host interfering, disabling the host virtual driver adapter and logging out will restore webcam function.
