I got my new computer last week from Dell. I have checked yahoo answers and googled and done everything people suggested. When i sign on aim, it would be fine but once i try to send a message, it would freeze and then Aim would close the program.

I had my neighbor who is good with computers and he came over and he still could not find out the problem and he downloaded a bunch of different versions to make it work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try a free alternative like Pidgin:

Download Pidgin 2.7.0 - FileHippo.com

Pidgin, Trillian, etc all can interface with AIM. I prefer Trillian myself.

Not sure why you think Firefox doesn't work for Youtube, you may be missing a plugin...

Try Trillian then. You can go to trillian.im to get it.

Also, if you have a Gmail/GTalk account you can link your AIM account to GTalk and IM with AIM while in your GMail account.

Can someone still help? I have been using aim express and find it very annoying having to type my sn and password everytime. I installed aim many times and it works. However, when i go to my buddy list and click on them and as i type the send button for a message, that is when it freezes everytime. If i sign on aim but don't send any message to anyone, it would not freeze.

Stop using AIM, uninstall it from your computer.

Go to www.disby.com download it and install it.
You can add your AIM account to the program and it will add all of your buddies. It can also handle lots of other IM accounts. You can save your username and password so you don't have to type it in all the time.

How come i cannot sign on digsby? Do i need to create a new account?

CREATE AN ACCOUNT, then follow the onscreen instructions. It is VERY simple.

Also, please don't bump your own posts (also known as: "anyone?" "anyone?"). They will be answered in due time. Additionally, *don't* use IN BROWSER messaging as it is usually flaky and will terminate your IM sessions.
