    3.3.1.0518

    Security Enhancement

The New Foxit Reader has implemented a new screening process which protects end users from misleading messages embedded within the parameters of a pop-up dialog box. A pop-up dialog contains an area which is reserved for a message that is generated by the rendered PDF. Due to Foxit's concern that this message may mislead users to take an unadvisable action, Foxit Reader will no longer display the content of the message and removes any parameters within the Pop-up message that can be manipulated by the PDF.

I've not used Foxit before, so could you explain about those installation options. I see a .exe a .zip and a .msi file. Which one to use?

And, I expect that it is a 32-bit app. is that right?

Just pick the 3.3.1 (new) exe. one, and install it like any other program. The options I was on about are it will have check boxes for if you want to install ask toolbar crap or whatever, set homepage as yahoo, something along those lines. Just be sure to uncheck that stuff. It might say, without these features installed, you won't have these options with the program, etc. You can just ignore that if you want. And near the end, it will also ask if you want an ebay shortcut on your desktop, just uncheck, etc.

    It's 32 bit, yeah.

    Thanks for the info.

I started the installer .exe file and my firewall detected that it was phoning home .

Having blocked those attempts I got to this window and deselected those options. Anything-else to do (apart from unchecking the eBay shortcut option later)?

Not much, I think. I choose custom install, then it shows about the ebay shortcut I think. I wouldn't worry about the program (foxit), it's been around for a long time, and is a legit program.
