This is to share my experiences installing a TX550W printer/scanner on my Windows 7 32-bit notebook. The printer was previously installed on a Win XP desktop using a ethernet cable from the printer to the router, so the printer was already visible at the network with a configured IP, but the printer can also be configured using the printer's screen and keyboard. The XP desktop and other PCs were to print through the ethernet network. At the win 7 notebook I installed the drivers
from the CD but the installation failed when it was configuring the network for the printer. I dowloaded the file TX550W_x86_662APS_C1.exe from Epson's web page and updated the drivers with the printer connected to the notebook using a USB cable (otherwise the updater does not find the printer). Then, in the Windows Explorer, under Network, I right-clicked on the printer (it can be recognized as in its properties it appears its address and other information) and selected Install. Printing a test page told me that it was correctly installed. Then I tried the scanner, but the Scan program looked for the USB printer not the network printer so it failed to open. I changed the configuration at "Epson Scan Settings" so the scanner looks for the network printer and the scan program opened and worked correctly. Using the printer's local keyboard the IP can be configured to Manual, so the IP address is always the same, so the scanner always finds it.
