scanned image to text!!!

Hi Tech fundies, I am not one! (57 oldie.lol)
I am on Vista home 32 bit, upgraded to win 7 Prof 32 bit and have a HP all in one 5610. All works well except I cannot scan documents in text, no options, just image (tif, jpg, etc).
I am doing home study and am desperate to resolve the problem.

Can someone pleaseeee tell me what OCR or software I can overcome this with?
Hp info is mine dump of useless help and I am now 700 megabites poorer on a 2 gig contract. On bended knee I thank you to help me resolve this.

Pensioner and not too bright,
McRae

You will need OCR software to do it. Optical character recognition.

Your post was clear that you knew you needed OCR software to do what you wanted to do, it's not unusual for people to reply without fully reading the post... With that said, I don't have a need and therefore don't use any OCR software so I can't recommend a product. But if you do a google search for "free OCR software" you'll find plenty of options. Why not download and test a few since nothing beats free...

support thank you

Thanks for that, the first poster suffers from OCR to MY text, lol.
As I said, I did the 700 meg scratch and link, HP was merely a base to link out of their customer support in the guise of "trouble shooting". Never will I touch HP again, ever.
I have only had the machine 13 months and it represents half a weeks income.
Grrrr!, ...Life goes on. Gonna cc this problem to Bin Ladden.

Try this forum:

HP Business Support Center

It looks like paid HP support, but it's not. It's users trying to suggest solutions. They just happen to be HP business machine customers. But a lot of the machines that used to be considered "business machines" are common now to regular users. A lot of experience on that site with Pavilion desktops and peripherals. Might be worth a try. It's free and they will accept a hotmail email address for registration. Don't have to give out your ISP email.
