Firefox & Photoshop problems driving me crazy!!!

thanks in advance if anybody can help me! ok, so... i have two problems... the first is firefox, my search box stopped working. i tried to re-add google to my search bar and got the 1st error...

my other problem is when i try to run photoshop, i get to the initializing screen where it's starting plugins and i get the 2nd error message...

i think it may be related to something i did earlier... i looked on the network i was on for internet and saw that my user folder was being shared. now i dont want to share any of my personal info with anybody on a public network, so i changed the permissions so that everybody cant access my user folder. there is only 1 user account on my laptop, and of course it is an admin account... any ideas anybody? i desperately need to access photoshop for work and im about to lose it!
