unable to install some apps

Hi, I'm new to Windows 7. I am using parallels desktop on my mac to run windows 7 by the way. I can't seem to install some apps such as CCLeaner, switcher and gmail notification for windows 7. I have downloaded them on their respective websites and when I try to install switcher, it says "this installation package cannot be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer"

When I try to install CCleaner, it says it's not a valid win32 application. My OS is windows 7 ultimate x32. I have tried installing some apps for win7 and it usually says not valid win32 application. =(

Whenever I try to install gmail notification, it always hangs and the option close program pops-up.

Is there something wrong with my windows 7? Please help.

I am also unable to install blu twitter application. It always stops on 289KB T.T What should I do?

Welcome

Are you in an administrators account when you try to install?

Yes. I also tried right click> run as administrator but still the same outcome.

I don't know if parallels desktop is the problem because if I go to properties>compatibility it says it cannot be set permanently on this program because it's on a network drive. I can even install firefox, it says not valid win32 app. X(

Found this for you, worth a try:

1. Launch Parallels Desktop and start Windows. Use a view that allows the Parallels Desktop menu to remain visible (i.e., not Full Screen).

2. From the Parallels Desktop menu, select Devices | Network Adapter 1 | Bridge Networking | Default Adapter.

thanks A Guy! I've also found another solution, I disabled shared folders and applications. It seems norton anti virus for mac was the culprit. T.T I do like Norton because my friend says its much more reliable but it's strict though.

I thought there's something wrong when I installed windows..

Though I did encounter a blue screen while I was upgrading my blackberry os using the desktop manager. But it did manage to recover and I think everything is okay now, I hope..

Thanks again!

Glad you got it sorted. You are one of the few Mac users I have known that uses any AV software. A Guy

Unable to launch any apps (I guess .exe)
My laptop (Sony Vaio / Win 7 Pro 64 bit) began playing up a couple of months ago, occasionally clicking on an icon (eg Firefox, Outlook...) in the taskbar (or from the start menu as well) failed to launch the program. The 'cursor wheel' would spin but then a few seconds later...nothing. A reboot...

Why is it necessary to re-install apps?
As a retired dinosaur (IBM mainframe sysprog), with sketchy knowledge of Windows architecture, I have often wondered why it is necessary to re-install every application after upgrading Windows software. Given that the solution to so many Windows issues seems to be a "clean install" I am surprised...
