hi
whenever I try to open certain files like just now MC2 files windows 7 will not open them and I am taken to a page which says it might be the registry and offers a free scan. is this software OK to download and what is a mc2 file.thanks

This sounds like a classic case of infection with Malware. Go to this site and download the free version link provided. Under no circumstances do as the program is telling you to do!

Download the free version and run it Ignore the free scan stuff.
