    Persona, welcome to the forums.

Yes it is, as it will add all the DirectX 9 and 10 files (as well as update any existing DirectX 11 files, whether you can use them or not) that older games will need to function properly.

Also if you install it use the new one that just came out this week,

Download details: DirectX Redist (June 2010)

instead of the one from February.

.NET Framework 3.5.1 is part of Windows 7 and is installed by default as a Feature. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features. On the top left click on Turn Windows Features on or off and it should be listed there and the block should should be shaded. This also includes everything from .NET Framework 2.0 to 3.5.1.

thanks for the replies.. i managed to install DX (June 2010) with no problems..

and for the .net framework, i just installed 4.0 version.. hmm, is it ok to just uninstall it..

err, instead of making another thread, i'll ask this question here and hopefully someone will pick it up.. here it goes.. i recently reformat and reinstall Windows 7, i don't know which programs installed altered this but i'm having some problems in the administrator dept.. the last time I installed Win 7, i don't have any problems opening programs that for what i think required to run as an admin.. it's click and go, unlike now that i need to right click and choose run as an admin..

    recent installs
    -superantispyware
    -spybot
    -malwarebytes
    -utorrent
    -.net framework 4

edit: also, how to always enable "show all process..etc." in task manager?
