Re-Partition my HDD

Hello again fellow Win7 fans.

Il start by saying im trying to alter the allocation of space on my HD to partitions. My laptop has been partitioned in an annoying way from factory.

C:SYSTEM - 116GB
D:RECOVERY - 116GB
HIDDEN - 400MB

Right, im trying to reduce the D partition space to 20GB and move the space it frees up onto the C partition so becomes:

C:SYSTEM - 212GB
D:RECOVERY - 20GB
HIDDEN - 400MB

Obviously they are not exact figures etc but you get the idea, I wanna take space off'f D and add it to C! SIMPLE?!

I need free software to this, ive tried 1 or 2 recommended ones on here but some of them don't support 64bit systems. I downloaded a partition wizard recomended on here by lots of people and it took the space off the D drive no problem and set it seperate as unallocated space, one problem, the software had a "merge" function but weren't available in the free version.

Can anybody just tell me a free software package that will take space off D and merge it with C?

Paragon can do it. I've used it myself and it works.

That's one of the ones I tried and it says 64Bit not supported in free version

Have you tried the built in Disk manager?

It should be able to accomplish what you want with no need to DL anything.

Once it is removed from D:, you dont really want to create another partition. You just want to increase the size of C:

The problem with your concept however is that you wont have the space on D: to do more than one backup. NOT Good

I have already backed up the system from new onto D and also backed it up to an encrypted external HDD, I might have 50GB on Recovery then, still wanna alter the partitions though cus im strting to run outta comfortable space on C.

Also, ive encrypted my external HDD with TrueCrypt and I was going to encrypt my C drive aswel and auto-mount it on boot and auto-dismount on stut down, Let me guess.... Bad idea?

I would delete D completely and then extend C with this (then unallocated) space. That can be easily done with Disk Management. For imaging I would then use a sufficiently large external disk. A 20GB partition does not really buy you anything in that context.
