    Free Registry Cleaner?

Whats the best free registry cleaner?

I know there is a sticky with some programs, but I would like some input from other users to see if one is recommended over the others.

    Thanks.

Welcome ebarn, I think what you'll mostly get here is opinions that registry cleabers are not a good idea. Windows 7 does a good job of managing the registry. If you feel you absolutely must use one, the only one I'd universally suggest is the one built into CCleaner

    CCleaner

If you do use it, you should know exactly what it is it wants to clean, and make a restore point 1st. A Guy

Thanks Guy. I''ll take a look at that.

I want to clean it up because I have been having a problem were I keep getting an error with WerFault.exe. I want to try everything I can to try and fix the system before I resort to restore points or even clean installs.

    Thanks again.

You are welcome, you'd be better served starting a thread about your WerFault.exe problem. And a restore point is a good option, but before you'd do a clean install, you'd want to try a repair install, leaving all your files and programs. Let us know iff you'd like help with original problem in the appropriate forum. A Guy

I did, it's in the Crashes and Debugging forum. Would that be the correct place?

it's not free but it does not cause any screw ups or problems with windows 7, tune up utilities but its not that expensive.

Cleaning up your registry will rarely correct errors. The root of this problem lies elsewhere.
