Rather than going through the agony of installing (or trying to...?) my Nero 9 I decideed to try the Nero 7 Essentials CD that came with my new Liteon SmartErase iHAP422-08 DVD burner. I ran the autorun in compatability mode with Vista RTM just in case and it works.
So Nero works guys. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware® ALX X58 OS Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate SP1/x64/XP SP3 x86 in VM CPU Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme O/C to 4.02 GHz, 8MB Cache Motherboard Asus® P6T Deluxe V2 X58 LGA1366 Memory 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 6 x 2048MB Graphics Card 1792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295/Hauppauge HVR2250 TV Tuner Sound Card Onboard Soundmax® High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung XL2370 LED backlit 23" W/S 2ms response time Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 Keyboard Microsoft® Wireless Entertainment 8000 + Logitech® G15 Wired Mouse Microsoft® Wireless Laser 8000 + Logitech® G9 Wired PSU Alienware® 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Case Alienware® P2 ALX Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling Cooling Alienware® High-Perf. Glad to help. I just couldn't face another Nero 9 install like on my Vista rig....it took hours, not only to download, but also to install. It refused to install if I removed more than just the InCD part using the custom option and created 66....yes 66 restore points. Plus it wont update, you have to uninstall and reinstall from the web.
Nero are working on it. Obviously the customers are the beta testers here. Pretty obvious considering Nero 9 was issued so soon after Nero 8, and stupid me for not sticking with the tried and true - Nero 8.
So if you do install regular Nero, as against the "Essentials" type, disable System Restore beforehand...LOL.
