    Uninstall problem

    Hi,

I recently had a problem when trying to install Real Player and the installation didn't complete and caused W7 to freeze.

Although the installation failed it appeared as if Real Player was on my system, but it wouldn't start. Neither would it ininstall, reporting that an uninstall component was missing.

I have purged the registry after manually removing anything relating to Real Player but the name still appears in the "uninstall a program" list in control panel.

Is there a way to remove this as well?

    Many Thanks in advance,

    Mervyn

Welcome to Seven Forums swerv1. You can try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and see if Real Player is listed:

    WICU

Scroll down a bit for the download

If not listed, perhaps see if Revo Uninstaller Free will list it:

    Revo Uninstaller

Good luck, let us know. A Guy

Revo Uninstaller should be able to find it. If not, try using the Hunter Mode in the program. It should be pretty self-explanatory. If you need additional help with Hunter Mode, please feel free to ask.

I downloaded both of the utilities you suggested. The Windows Install Cleanup didn't see the remnants of the Real Player registry entries, but the Revo tool found it on ordinary uninstall using the scan.

    Thanks to you both!

I downloaded both real alt and quick time alt. Some web pages new the difference I guess. They still said I need to download real player or quick time to play videos. That was a long time ago. Maybe they got better.
