I need advice on which codec package I need

I've read that alot of these codec packages have trojans and all kinds of things that you don't want on your computer. I mainly use my computer for watching .avi files but i need something that will play most everything on WMP, not VLC player. I also need a package that does not need tweeking as I don't know enough about that stuff. If someone could help, that would be awesome and if you could provide the link to the codec...that would be even better

Yes it works with 64 bit you have to get the 64 bit pack after you install the 32 bit pack.
