Windows 7: Does VLC player have issues with Xvids?

Does VLC player have issues with Xvids?

I have had VLC crash a number of times when playing an Xvid that is an avi. Is there is solution?

Also, I notice the sound is just a small bit slower than the video.

Use xvid codec. But, this can give you sound problems if using nVidia GPU...
