Ubuntu should just so that themselves with seperate "Ubuntu - politically correct" distro (which is what they ahave now) and an "Ubuntu - usable" distro for well the other 99% of Linux users... Would be insteresting to see exactly what ratio of each got DLed.. :)

Well that depends on your preferred desktop/window manager style.
I can't stand Gnome and it's default set of tools myself so I would go for KUbuntu. Though I'm not all that hot on KDE either :/ Still waiting for a GOOD Linux desktop :)
Though I have not actually installed the latest Ubuntu, the default gnome install is supose to have improved a lot. I need to give it a try.

Xubuntu is similar to stock Ubuntu, except that it uses the XFCE window manager, which is similar to Gnome (a Mac-like interface), with slight differences and it uses less memory. It's really ideal for older systems without much memory.
Ubuntu uses Gnome, which you know.
Kubuntu uses KDE which is more of a Windows-like interface (ie a "start" menu).
They'll all run the same software no matter which you choose. And you can install however many interfaces you want. For example if you download Ubuntu and you decide you want the KDE interface (Kubuntu), you can go into Synaptic Package Manager and download the Kubuntu package, which will install everything for you. But it won't replace Gnome. Instead, when you're at the login screen, there's a little dropdown menu that allows you to choose which interface to load.

Yeah i guess, though to me ubuntu has improved alot..but maybe that's because i haven't installed/used it since..umm maybe 06? or 2007. Xubuntu..have never tried nor any others.. Sabayon was another one i tried.. was ok, was really flashy but an ok for gaming OS.

Want "cool-looking" go with Kubuntu! Its built off the KDE stead of GNOME :P! Kubuntu looks... amazing for a linux distro!

Might have to take a peek at it with VMware and see how it looks/acts, then possible give it a partition/drive of its own~~

Linux Mint booted from my jump drive is very cool and looks great. I like it much much better than Puppy Linux. There is nothing wrong with Puppy, but it doesn't have the same pizazz as Mint

Puppy Linux is made from the ground up for flash drives, meaning it lacks a lot. Linux Mint for flash drives is derived from the full version.
