    Video Downloader

    I am running 32bit Windows 7 Pro

I have a program on my Win XP pc that adds a tool bar to IE8 that when there is a movie on a webpage, it allows me to download that movie to my hard drive. It downloads almost any movie type (flv, mp4 etc). It is optional to download or cancel.

I find it a little annoying at times, but overall it is worth having.

I tried to install it on my Win 7 pc also with IE8 and it tells me it is NOT compatible with this version.

Does anyone know of a program like this that will work with Win7 and IE8?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I personally hate IE8 (just my opinion)
If I were you, I would switch to Firefox and get video download helper, another must have for firefox is Adblock Plus. I just like firefox for the stability and customization it provides.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi !
I use Internet Download Manager: the fastest download accelerator . It is win 7 home premium 32 bit, and firefox web browser that I use. Wherever there is a video file, you get a bar like this attached image, which is optional to download or discard . Are you talking about something like the same ?

I really don't want to debate the virtues of browsers. I feel the same way about Firefox as you do IE.

The program I tried to install is "Video Download Toolbar".

I use Internet Download Manager: the fastest download accelerator .
Is this a general download manager for all downloads or just for video files?

Hi pal "The fastest download accelerator " is not said by me, I just made a copy-paste of the link, so there is no debate from my part .

IDM is a general download accelerator . It has a firefox add-on , which makes it integrated with firefox. So whenever you click on any download link, it is automatically downloaded with IDM , as all the other download managers do. What is attractive in it is it provides a video download dialog on any video , of any duration and any format , in your browsing . If you have to download the video, click yes. Otherwise click no . Most simple video download solution I have ever had So tried to share my experience with you, pal .

it installed okay for me, once i right-clicked on the program, and selected 'xp sp3' mode from the compatibility tab.

or, allow the compatibility assistant to reinstall using recommended settings.

Sorry about that Arc I was not referring to you when I said I did not want to debate the virtures of browsers.

Thanks mm althought I did not get the same prompts you did, I right-clicked the program and selected "Troubleshoot Compatibility" and then followed the prompts. It ran the install as xp sp2 and installed and seems to work fine.

That is a neat trick to know for future reference.

    Thanks again
