Running Windows 7 on Microsoft Virtual PC... So I installed Windows 7 on Microsoft's Virtual PC but I've run into a couple issues...
The first issue is that I'm unable to get my Windows 7 installation to output any kind of sound whatsoever. I've tried installing a sound driver but the one from my motherboards manufacturers website doesn't work because it's the wrong version of Windows (tried using the Windows Vista 32-bit installer)... Ideas?
The other issue is that my mouses "back button" ("Mouse Button 4" or "Side Button") doesn't function while I'm in the Windows 7 VPC, scrolling and all that fun stuff still works, but the button in question does nothing...
Oh... And I can't get the Aero translucent stuff to work... Most likely because the PC doesn't see the VPC as having a compatible grahpics card... Does anyone know how to fix that? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Freelancer852 - The-Tank OS Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit & Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (Build 7600) CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.1GHz Motherboard ASUS Striker Extreme Memory 8GB Corsair XMS2-8500D Dominator TWIN2X DDR2 (4 x 2GB) Graphics Card 2x eVGA GeForce GTX 285 1GB's in SLI Sound Card Integrated Sound Card Monitor(s) Displays 2x 24" Samsung SyncMaster 245B's and a 24" SyncMaster 2443BW Screen Resolution 5760x1200 Keyboard Saitek Eclipse Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Corsair HX1000 Watt PSU Case Cooler Master CM 690 Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 2 x Push/Pull 120mm | 5 x 120mm Case Hard Drives 2x 500GB SEAGATE ST3500640AS's

Hi Freelancer, i don't think you can have aero on a VPC from what others have said and as for sound the only driver that I found works fully for me is R210 all the others would not let me use sound manager.
I was still able to get sound regardless of being able to access soun manager so I don't know if that will fix your problem but it may be worth a try, also maybe try installing your mouse with compatability mode for Vista. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

I've got a Logitech MX Revolution, I did install the Logitech SetPoint software with compatibility mode enabled, but it didn't enable anything extra, and it wouldn't recognize my mouse.
My soundcard is integrated into my motherboard (ASUS Striker Extreme) so it's a SoundMAX driver that's required... Any tips on getting those from places other than the motherboard manufactuerer? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Freelancer852 - The-Tank OS Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit & Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (Build 7600) CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.1GHz Motherboard ASUS Striker Extreme Memory 8GB Corsair XMS2-8500D Dominator TWIN2X DDR2 (4 x 2GB) Graphics Card 2x eVGA GeForce GTX 285 1GB's in SLI Sound Card Integrated Sound Card Monitor(s) Displays 2x 24" Samsung SyncMaster 245B's and a 24" SyncMaster 2443BW Screen Resolution 5760x1200 Keyboard Saitek Eclipse Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Corsair HX1000 Watt PSU Case Cooler Master CM 690 Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 2 x Push/Pull 120mm | 5 x 120mm Case Hard Drives 2x 500GB SEAGATE ST3500640AS's

see the thing is that VPC emulates the hardware..
and did you download VPC SP1??
this is what VPC emulates
* 32-bit Intel Pentium II processor (but virtualizes the host processor on Windows versions) with an Intel 440BX chipset
* standard SVGA VESA graphics card (S3 Trio 32 PCI with 4 MB Video RAM, adjustable in later versions up to 16 MB)
* system BIOS from American Megatrends (AMI)
* Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 ISA PnP (when Vista is installed as both the host (main) and guest (virtual) Operating systems, then the need to set audio configuration is removed, as the guest (Virtual) OS automatically synchronizes the settings with the host (main) Operating System.)
*DEC 21041 (DEC 21140 in newer versions) Ethernet network card. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Tx2500z Tablet Pc/Homemade Server OS Windows 7 Ult x64(x2), HomePrem x32(x4), Server 08 (+VM), 08 R2 (VM) , SuSe 11.2 (VM), XP 32 (VM) CPU Turion X2 ultra (oh well came with laptop)/P4 @3.2 (yes P4) Motherboard IDK HP Motherboard / Intel DG965SS Memory OCZ Dual Channel 4GB kit/ 1gb Dual Channel Graphics Card HD 3200 graphics /GMA x3100 (yay for intergrated!!) it seems it i was wrong...
usb emulation is not supported so only default input hardware can be installed... USB emulation in Virtual PC for Windows
i know Vmware can do this though you will have to "technically install" it in vmware..
the thing is you cannot use it in your host though...
