Recent Items in Start menu is broken This has been doing this since two weeks ago and I can't get it to stop. It even still happens after a format.
I can't remove it, because clicking 'Remove from List' does nothing. It's always the same icon.

Hello Gir,
Sometimes turning off, apply, then turning back on Recent Items and Recent Programs will clear this out for you.
If not, then you might see if resetting the jump lists may help. It will also reset the recent items as well.
Hope this helps,

I used the BAT file to clear the jump list. I had to log off and then log back on, but I could remove QuickPar from the JumpList. But, it did this before. It'd go away for like a few minutes, then come back. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self assembled OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit CPU Core2 Quad Q6600 2.24Ghrtz Motherboard ASUS P5Q Pro Memory G.SKILL 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 Graphics Card ATi Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 Sound Card Realtek Integrated Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 170s 19" Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard G110 Logitech USB Keyboard Mouse G5v2 Logitech USB Laser Mouse PSU Corsair CMPSU-650TX 80 PLUS Case Cool Master Ammo Cooling Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 Hard Drives 320GB Western Digital Caviar Blue 7,200 SATA

Is QuickPar a program that you have load at startup, or use often? If so, then it will always come back later since it is considered a recent program that you used. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

Some binary newsreaders have unrar and quickpar functionality built in. I use both Newsbin and UsenetExplorer since each have qualities I like that the other doesn't. Both have built in unrar and quickpar support. It's all automated. Now and then you hit a snag where you have to intervene manually, but not often. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard PS/2 Mouse PS/2 Wheel Mouse Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :

Mine does too, but for some reason Windows grabs the closest thing it can find and sticks it at the top. If I remove QuickPar from the startmenu, it finds something else.
After I ran that BAT file, it seems to be doing fine now. Thanks. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self assembled OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit CPU Core2 Quad Q6600 2.24Ghrtz Motherboard ASUS P5Q Pro Memory G.SKILL 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 Graphics Card ATi Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 Sound Card Realtek Integrated Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 170s 19" Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard G110 Logitech USB Keyboard Mouse G5v2 Logitech USB Laser Mouse PSU Corsair CMPSU-650TX 80 PLUS Case Cool Master Ammo Cooling Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 Hard Drives 320GB Western Digital Caviar Blue 7,200 SATA

After I ran that BAT file, it seems to be doing fine now. Thanks. Glad you got it going. I take another approach and don't look in there. That way it doesn't piss me off.
Mostly I open the Start Menu if the program I'm uninstalling didn't register its removal program. Other than that, it's to search on an environment variable. Everything else I launch from a launcher or toolbar. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center OS Windows 7 32 bit CPU AMD 5200+ dual core Memory 2 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 6150SE 128 MB Monitor(s) Displays CRT Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard PS/2 Mouse PS/2 Wheel Mouse Hard Drives 500 GB Sata internal :
