    start and stop a program


    hi all im after a free program that i can start a program at a set time and close that program at a set time im runing windows 7 64bit also im not to tech savey on software

    any help would be great

    windows 7 comes with its own software to do this - the task scheduler.

    Depends on the type of program. Some programs if you force them to close by just using a kill command, you can corrupt the data or settings in the registry. If it's a program that does not write any files it might not matter. What you might want is a macro type program that can send keystrokes to tell the program to save its data, wait for it to save, then tell it to close.. for intance if it's an editor you might send Control-S to save, then Alt-X to exit, if those are the keys it uses. I would take a look on Softpedia and other freeware sites. There should be a bunch.
