Which sound card do you recommend?

    Hey all,

I need another soundcard because my Creative Fatelity x-Pro Elite I think does not work anymore. I tried to solve the issue and asked people here to help, but nothing worked. I need a soundcard so that I can record what I listen to with programs such as Roxio, Sony SoundForge. Also, if you know any other programs that can record from the motheboard Soundcard, please let me know, and I don't mean record from my WebCam or Mic because I get lot of ambient noise from those.
Know any programs that can record from MB Soundcard?
And what Soundcard do you guys recommend, I need at least 7.1. All the reviews I read there is always someone having issues with it. I prefer Creative, Asus is good too. :)

    Thank You,

    Peyman

Just a month ago, I purchased an Asus Xonar D2X and I love it.

I got fed up with poor driver quality from my SB Xfi and it's constant snap-crackle-pop while playing games or listening to music.

The sound quality is excellent and I've had no SCP issues. I've had no issues with older games either.

    I highly recommend it.

Because of many problem posts on the Dell Users Forum with the SoundBlaster Xfi's that Dell was using when my old sound card died I avoided the SoundBlasters and installed a HT Omega Striker 7.1 and it worked great, but it does not have hardware MIDI synths like SoundBlaster has, and I need those synths. So I moved the Striker 7.1 card to the "backup" PC and installed a new SoundBlaster Xfi Titanium Fatality Champion and it's working great in Win 7 64 bit.

fireberd: How'd you get your Dell to recognize the Titanium? I run Win7 x64 Ultimate. Downloaded all the new SB drivers for Win7 from the Creative site. The instruction is to run the Product ID tool first... so I did... but it won't run! It tells me I'm not running Win7 and it requires Win7. I'm running Win7! I'm ready to send the Titanium back to Buy.com.... Any advice? Thanks so much for posting. I've got a glimmer of hope here...

I don't know what's with the Creative drivers. For some it works, for some it doesn't. I guess it has to do with hardware too since some people get it working on Win 7 and others do not. I think I'll be switching over to either Asus Xonar Dx2 or Asus Xonar Essence since the reviews I am reading are saying they both work with Windows 7:) Creative can kiss my A** Goodbye

I don't have the SB installed on a Dell. It's on my home built system, which uses an Intel motherboard. As I look back over the Dell posts it appears the biggest problems were with the OEM version PCI Xfi cards that they used. The newer models, which are PCIe, do not seem to be causing problems.
