Here I emded buying a pair of Sony brand cordless with the charging base. Sony MDR-RF925RK 900 MHz RF Wireless Stereo Headphone System / Audio / Headphones / Wireless - Sony - Zalmar.com

A lead cord runs to the headphone jack on the center mix speaker(5.1 surround speaker set) here. One set of Kos cordless are actually marked down quite a bit however. Amazon.com: Koss HB70 Streetstyle Cordless Infrared Headphone System: Electronics

That's a real bargain since this type of headphones can usually see much higher retail prices. Since you buy from EBay you can search there as well for good deals on the better brands. That's US Prices note.

With the corded sets I got sick and tired of not so much the cord if it had a volume adjustment on it but the cheap plastic frames that would snap on you! That's the Koss is now making the lower priced corded models where the part that holds the ear piece on simply breaks too easily.
(used Koss for high end stereo long before pc! couldn't afford quadraphonic headsets in those days however!)

But the sound was alway better except for the present set of Sony cordless in use here for the time being.

Now getting back to you on s-video there that would see both video and sound working together when selecting that input source with the tv remote. With RCA in and HDMI you likely have to make a choice if you don't hear anything while the video is clear.

I never said s-video was the best quality being composite but simply as the expression goes "a means to an end" being one solution. If you continue to use the DVI to HDMI and still hear sound when patching over from the sound card then your problem is solved that way(and obviously preferred! ).

So do you recommend buying the Sony ones?
How can I know if the head phones are good? What do I need to search for in the specifications?
I think I better not buy an IR set, because it's kinda limits my movment from the transmitter.

    Thank you :)

Those were only two of the brand names available. Plus it depends on what you will use them for(gaming or music) when going to select a set.

The thing I like about the set I have here is how long the charge will last on the rechargable triple A batteries it uses. I can leave them off the stand all night and still get a few hours use before a recharge using the pair of Rayovac batteries it takes. It uses ultrasound waves to recharge them rather then direct metal contacts. Something more recently seen.

To get some idea of what is available as far as brands, styles, types here's just one 4 page Bing search result to go through. Note these all see US prices. cordless stereo headphones - Bing Shopping

I wouldn't say all Infrared models are that limited. Several years back you would tend to be restricted mainly to "line of sight" movement while the last few years have seen a lot of improvements in that area. Even with the FM type however you can find yourself limited somewhat in range to prevent signal fadeout problems or other interferences.

The two things most will look at however is price range and product details as well as specifications. You can have the top specs and still not be happy if you didn't look over the product info. Does it come with a base stand? Do you use rechargeable or one time use batteries?(needing to be replaced often!).

(5000 already? time sure flies when you're having fun! )
