No, I did not, I just followed the directions involving the download, and the old drivers were apparently overwritten, if I click "update driver" it says the driver is up to date.

As pointed out, you will need to uninstall your old drivers before you can install the new ones. This is especially important if you try to install drivers that are not compatible with your hardware, just as you have done with the Realtek ones. If you still have trouble, you might need to bite the bullet and restore your system from the recovery partition (see your laptop manual for details).

Unistall the driver you have now, and install the new driver. BTW, the update driver button only checks for updates available via Windows Updates. The newest drivers are rarely available through it.

I am able to hear sound completely, the only thing I'm looking for is the karaoke ability of Realtek. Ok (doing that now).

If you don't have the Realtek hardware, you can't use features specific to it. Google for software that might be able to replicate that ability.

You can only utilise the features that are available and supported by your hardware/driver combination. Note that it is possible for your hardware to support features that are not made available by the current release of the driver. In these cases, you will need check for driver updates because it is quite possible that these features may be supported in a subsequent driver release.
