    Solution to no sound playback

    Hi all,

I too have recently installed Windows 7 and have been experiencing problems with Realtek HD Audio sound no playing back on my 5.1 surround sound setup.

I notied after installing the latest Realtek drivers the sounds were in fact registering on my system, the sound measuring bars on the volume mixer were moving. (right click the small speaker in the systems tray to find the Volume Mixer)

To fix this go to the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the systems tray.
on the top right of the audio manager you will see in blue underlined writing that reads "Device advanced settings" click it.

Next you should see two categories "Playback Device" and " Recording Device"
in the playback device category select the option that reads:

"Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously"

This worked for me however my set up may be different to most of yours.

Hope it works for you all :)

    Hi all,

I have a ASUS A8N5X with the Realtek ALC850 chip, Stereo Speakers connected (analog 3,5).
Running Win 7 Prof 32Bit fresh install. Windows drivers ok, no sound.
I Tried everything, but unfortunately after hours of installing drivers, restarting windows and connecting the speakers to every audio slot, there was no sound coming from the speakers.
Also there was no connection recognision, and on the right window you can see that no socket information is available. Perhaps windows thinks, that there are no speakers connected and so it does not need to play sound.

I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue, but this sound card worked like a charm unter Win XP Prof 32bit for about 4 years.

Tried every solution from this thread but no sound at all.
    I'll buy a new card.

Wish you more luck than I had :P

Well... i itched ummmed and arrrr'd over this for ages.. GooGle failed to help me this time so i went to basics.. i tried everything from using all different drivers, settings etc.. I uninstalled windows 7 and put xp on.. just to verify nothing was wrong.. And hey presto.. i had sound.! :@

Soo back to 7.. after lots of pissin around and swearing at, kicking my pc.. i tried different thing and having plugged it back in.. i had sound... ODD.. cos i had no idea what i'd done.. days later i was plugging in a usb connection and just happened to notice.. i had my speakers plugged into the 'LINE IN' instead of AUDIO OUT connection..!!!!! obviously I'd done this by mistake by plugging in the connection blind as i couldnt be bothered pullin the unit out..!

So.. my solution is.. i get sound via the LINE IN and not AUDIO OUT.. mic works perfectly in MIC OUT so.. maybe windows 7 has this driver error a bit.. Back to Front?

Managed to solve this problem by downloading the ATI Realtek driver and setting it as default device.

i installed the driver in the cd given with the product.
then i searched through tabs, and maximized the sounds
then tried other entries as line in, out etc.
only front speaker out worked for me

    All,
After spending several hours of "no sound 5.1 troubleshooting", I looked at the manual for my new P8Z77-V motherboard and noticed the plugs in a different pattern. Instead of "3 in a row of "orange, black, gray", it was "orange, black, green". The "gray plug" goes in the "green port".
    Now I have perfect sound.

Guys, just update your Bios for the latest version. Because many of users with 64 bit Windows 7 sound isn't working. (emachines e725)
