Assuming that ist is the old SB Live (4.1, Live and variants), have you tried this modded driver set on it,

SB Live! series Support Pack 2.0 (04/30/2010) - Creative Labs

As for your question about whether you 4.1 speakers will work with a 5.1 card, yes they will. Which card are you looking at?

yep, i tried those, im on xp now, works perfectly whit apropriate 4.1 creative live drivers for xp. when i install w7 whit those you recommended, or 2 speakers doesn't work or i get some noise on it, not good quality sound, ive tried so many options, even configure it but no sucess...
yes it is my old 4.1 soundblaster live value to be more exactly.

i will buy creative labs soundblaster live

so, this card has good drivers whit no problem on windows 7?
Which drivers are perfect for this card on W7?

All that card is is the same as what you currently have, only difference is that it supports 5.1. It also hasn't seen a driver update since sometime in 2003, and uses the identical driver as your current card.

If you want something with current driver support you're going to have to look something from the X-Fi series if you want to stay with Creative, or something from the likes of Asus or Auzentech.

Assuming the rest of your computer isn't of similar vintage as that old SB Live, have you tried the onboard sound? If the motherboard has Realtek for the onboard sound, then there is a very good chance that there are Windows 7 drivers for it (any of the others (C-Media, IDT, Soundmax) are hit and miss for support)..

stormy13, yes i have onboard sound, and they work on it, but i noticed the sound quality is very diferent from the original card, they don't have those effect when i play a game, or other effect when i listening music, almost its like if i have 2 speakers and sub only...i have 4 speaks for some reason, so i prefer to keep on xp or wait that x-fi cards low price.

apollo , you mean that Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Advanced whit drivers could work on W7? which drivers exactly did you used?
