Can Realtek auto detect and switch to which mode I'm playing on?

Hi. I'm sorry if this is posted elsewhere, or in the wrong spot. I just got a new computer (HP Pavilion Elite) and it has the realtek audio driver. Version 6.0.1.6053.

I use Logitech Z5500 speakers. I use an analog connection for games for 5.1 and an optical connection for music and movies. Also I may use a headset connected to the front of the HP for gaming and vent.

Everything works fine, but the problem is, I have to manually set my default device each time. If I want to play a game and use my mic, I need to manually open the realtek control panel and set my headset as the default device and then launch my game. If I want to liste nt omusic, I need to manually switch to HD audio. If I want to play my game normally, I have to manually switch to Analog.

Is there a way it can detect what I'm using, or at the very least, detect my headset being plugged in and switch to it and use it?

In control panel/sounds/headphones and look at properties and see if drives are updated.

i just updated my drivers to the latest version 6.0.1.6167 and the problem persist

I'm sorry, nothing stood out to me that related to my problem. Did I miss something, do you know of this happening to others?

I noticed on the realtek control panel, it does detect a headset being plugged in. It just..doesn't cut off the speaker sound and switch to headphones.

I'm having the same problem. It is a pain the the arse. It's like a ten-step manual procedure to reconfigure Windows 7 Realtek configuration and my receiver just to switch from a DVD in stereo to a DVD in 5.1.
I was told by another member to update my driver to the latest listed at Realtek (as I can see you are using) from the latest listed at HP for my HP e9280t.

I asked Realtek and was told that Microsoft specs allow them to enable one xor the other audio outputs, but not two at a time.
