SB X-Fi MB Software Enabled missing synth

Hi, I recently purchased a Dell XPS Studio 16 with SB X-Fi MB Software enabled sound.

It works great, and sounds great, but it is missing something. There are no soundfont libraries available, so I am unable to improve the sound of midi. I use a program called Guitar Pro, to compose, and the default midi just is unbearable. Where can I get the drivers or software that will let my computer use the Creative Soundfonts? So far the computer will only let me use the Microsoft GS Wavetable synth as my midi output device.

Also, I notice that the device manager doesn't detect the SB, what is the reason for this?

    Thank You.

    nifty1234, welcome to the forums.

Unless Dell has made some kind of arrangement for the version of the X-Fi MB they sell, it doesn't come with the Soundfont Bank Manager according to here,

Doubt it will work but you can try the one from here,

    Creative Worldwide Support

For a very good reason, that laptop does not have a X-Fi in it. What it has is an IDT audio chip that uses the IDT drivers, and gets to use some of the X-Fi software,

The SB software is strictly a software enhancement to the Integrated audio on the PC. As it's strictly software it won't show up in the Device manager. Creative (Soundblaster) has nothing on this or any support for it as it's an OEM product that is sold to OEM's such as Dell, and any support for it is provided by the OEM Vendor (in this case Dell).

There are no MIDI Soundfonts with this as it does not include a MIDI Synth, you must still use the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Only the hardware Xfi Sound Cards come with MIDI synths on the sound card and with soundfonts.

Looks like you need to upgrade the recording software to something that includes built in MIDI. (I use Sonar).

    The previous answers are wrong.
Soundfont based synth are software and not hardware.

Anyway you can have a very good one (better than creative's) just downloading VirtualMidi Synth from here: VirtualMIDISynth | CoolSoft

It's free and works like a charm.
