The only thing WMP won't do (and that'll be fixed when I finish the WMP plugin I'm writing) is embed album art in the mp3v2 tag. I use mp3tag for that and a more "10,000ft." view of the tags present. It will take the album art that WMP downloads and stores as the hidden "folder.jpg" files and add it to the tags. That way, if you ever lose your library or copy just the MP3s to another machine, it will be able to rebuild the library super fast.

If I can just get it to stop fighting with WMP itself I'll be happy. How's this for a catch-22: WMP monitors music folders for changes in order to update library. My plugin is subscribed to those events. I can do a quickie check that all the files in the folder have album art embedded then. If not, and a folder.jpg is found I call back into WMP to update the tag. Only it then conflicts with itself as I don't think it's done updating the tag at that point. Ah, the joys of software development...
I just came across this thread and thought I'd add my $0.02.
I use MusicBrainz Picard to tag and rename my mp3s. After grabbing the cover art plugin, it does everything you need however you'd like it done. It's got a great online database, and if you don't like how it names or tags something, you can change it before finalizing changes. It's really great for tagging entire albums. Only thing it doesn't do is monitor folders for you.

I will go for the double whammy of mp3tag and Picard. Sometimes WMP will put it's own ID3v2.3 tags over top of an existing ID3v2.4 tag. Picard won't remove the extra data. Mp3tag will. Then you can work normally in Picard again.
Where the cover art plugin can't find covers for some albums, I will surf allmusic.com and copy covers into the clipboard, then embed with mp3tag.
I too recomend Media Monkey. Especialy for very large libraries. The down side of Media Monkey, is it's a very powerfull tool, and it will let you mess up your library if misused. This is also one of the upsides. If you know what your doing, it's quite powerfull and flexable.
This is a long shot but until I had to reinstall Windows 7 (Ultimate Edition) I had an MP3 tagger but, after reinstallation, it's disappeared
I can't remember which tagger it was but it was accessed either by the "EDIT" button at the top of the file page or by right clicking on the mp3 track to be edited.
Take a look at the Zune software from Microsoft. It's for Zune players, but I know people who don't have a Zune, that use it for their music organizer.
I use it for my 3 zunes, and I find it to be an excellent music organizer and tagger. Some really sweet extras too like artist related screen savers, playlists, DJ(play more like this one) mode.
