Headphones not being detected

I just bought a GE earbud/microphone headset. There were two plugs, one for the microphone and one for the headset. The microphone works perfectly, but for whatever reason I can't hear anything in the earbud. When I go to Playback Devices to make it the default device, it doesn't even appear in the list.

For one...when u plug it into the headphone jack....it should just work. Any headphones work right out the box when u plug em into the PC. At least for me it does.

Make sure your volume is clicked on. I remember it happening to me before. Somehow Windows just turned it off.

Please fill out your system specs.

Is your audio realtek? If so ...

Goto Realtek Audio HD manager in systray
Goto AudioIO tab and see where is the headphone/speaker symbol
There should be only one such symbol depending on where u have connected the headphones(front/rear)
If you find headphone symbol repeating at some other place, change it to something else
Now everything will work

I have a Dell notebook and have to specify what device is going in the jack.
