Windows 7: 50% CPU, where's the rest gone?

I'm having a weird issue with Realtek driver on my Vaio. It looks sometimes it just uses the 100% of one of the cores in my dual core CPU. I can only detect it when I feel the slowness. And then I sort by CPU utilization in the task manager. One of the processes take 50%. It's really annoying..

Any ideas?

Important things first
Run a complete anti virus scan
download and run malwarbytes
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes

Do you by any chance have zonealarm installed? What anti-virus software? Try disabling all third party apps one at a time to see if this is causing a problem. Also install the latest Realteck driver. Please update your system specs so we can be more helpful.

Hello and Welcome !

Download Process Explorer it's like a Super Task Manager it will allow up to expand a process and see which one is taking more Memory or CPU usage. Post us which one exactly is using the CPU.

dude, i hate antivirus/malware apps. they slow down even worse then the virus itself!!!

Dude, you are talking to a group of experts ("experts" being them more than myself). Everyone here knows that what you just said is not true. I could spend an hour explaining everything that is wrong with that statement, but instead I will give an article to read. I think you have to know little bit more about what Viruses do.

We would strong recommend to install one so you wont regret in the future. There are lot of AV that has few low foot prints. For instance Microsoft Security Essentials is one that is highly recommend one around there. It free and effective.

Some users have two virus scanners, which certainly impacts performance. But not to have any is plain suicide.
