| Windows 7: No 5.1 Audio in Realtek HD Audio Manager |

No 5.1 Audio in Realtek HD Audio Manager I have five speakers and one subwoofer connected to a Samsung HT-Z310 DVD-player, and then connect that to my MacBook using AUX 2.
(I have no idea what AUX 2 is, but that's what the tiny display on the DVD-player says.)
The problem is that the Mac only plays stereo on them.
When I open Realtek HD Audio Manager, in the "Speakers" tab, and the "Speaker Configuration" subtab, "Speaker Configuration" is set to "Stereo" by default. And it's grayed out, so I can't change it.
Further than that, I only have two options: "Full-range Speakers" - "Front left and right" and "Headphone Virtualization".
I have also tried "Control Panel", "Hardware and Sound", "Sound", marking the speakers and clicking "Configure", but the only option displayed in the list is "Stereo".
I have no idea what's wrong. The rear speakers work, but play the same sound as the front speakers. | My System Specs |

OK, so after thinking about it for a while, is it possible that my sound card doesnt't support 5.1 audio? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Apple MacBook White 2007 OS Mac OS X Leopard, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz Motherboard Apple Motherboard Memory 2,00 GB RAM Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Sound Card Integrated Monitor(s) Displays 13 Inch Built in Display Screen Resolution 1280 by 800 Keyboard Built in Keyboard Mouse Built in Touchpad (with a button) PSU Apple Power Adapter Case MacBook White Unibody Cooling Integrated Hard Drives Hitachi 120 GB (47 GB (Mac OS X), 64 GB (Windows)) Internet Speed 350 kB/s Other Info Bought summer 2008. Ok so 3.5 jack to left and right phono ,i think as you are running the output cable that is stereo only then that is what your DVD player receives.
Is there a setting on the DVD player to convert stereo signal to a surround signal . i have a Technics home theater and my pc plugs into that, i still get a surround sound but its forced by the amp. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett packard/p6512uk OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7600 CPU IIx4 amd athelon 635 processor Motherboard FOXCONN 2AA9 Memory 2x2gb Graphics Card ati radeon HD 5450 Sound Card (1) Realtek High Definition Audio (2) AMD High Definition Monitor(s) Displays samsung lcd tv 32" Screen Resolution 1360x 768 Keyboard wireless hp Mouse wireless Hp,optical PSU ? The DVD Player is set to Matrix if that's what you mean.
All the speakers make sound, but only stereo. In the "Configure speakers" interface there are only two speakers I can click, but if I click the one to the right, both the front right and rear right speakers make sound. The subwoofer and the middle speaker also work. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Apple MacBook White 2007 OS Mac OS X Leopard, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz Motherboard Apple Motherboard Memory 2,00 GB RAM Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Sound Card Integrated Monitor(s) Displays 13 Inch Built in Display Screen Resolution 1280 by 800 Keyboard Built in Keyboard Mouse Built in Touchpad (with a button) PSU Apple Power Adapter Case MacBook White Unibody Cooling Integrated Hard Drives Hitachi 120 GB (47 GB (Mac OS X), 64 GB (Windows)) Internet Speed 350 kB/s Other Info Bought summer 2008.
